Well I am off in the morning. The team should be arriving during the day tommorrow. This may be our last post. We’d love to hear from everyone. We are very excited and ready!

Thank you for all the support.  Thank you to Phil who helped me by loading teh kayak numerous times, hanging rope for me to climb, kayaking with me :)  and giving up Sat morning so I could work out.

Thanks to SF911 for lifting weights with me, not squirting me with the water while I climbed the tree and for kayaking with us.  I’ll miss you buddy.

Thanks to my family for the support, helping out with my gear, Nana for sewing a loop on my gloves, CJ for writing a press release and getting me an interview on my last day in town,  Bill for ALL the gear (they are tired of me saying this is Bill’s gear)…Maribel for letting me borrow her kayak for two years…

Thanks mom and dad for helping me get healthy to be here! Mom Get well soon mom. I want you to be walking when I get home.

Pat thank you for running the stairs wtih me for 6 months. You really pushed me, you crazy fast woman!

And lastly but not least I thank God for working out all the last minutes details, giving me an awesome team and helping me get healthy to do this.

Well I am sure I’ll be embarrassed tomorrow when I think of someone else but seriously thanks for all the support. It is so helpful.

We’d appreciate your prayers for a safe race, speed, and warmth! We’ll have a full report when we are done.

Our Crew

We are so excited about our crew. They are selflessly giving up vacation time and family time to help us. We are so grateful.

Autumn is the mother of 3 boys. She helped get us ready to go and got all our shirts printed. Yeah!!!

Many of you know Todd from previous primal quest. He is the man in the kilt. He has joined us this year and we are so excited about his medical expertise (I found this out first hand at the last PQ) and his fun personality.

Joel is a military man. He has a great personality and is very organized. He will keep our wheels in motion. He may even let us sit down in the TA!

Ascending and Snowshoes in the backyard

I think my neighbors think I am strange. Many have seen me running with a backpack and trekking poles and taking off on a bike ride like I am going cross-country. This week however I think I really made them thin I am weird.

My son wanted a neighbor to come play. Her mom came out to see if it was alright with me. I didn’t know she was coming out. She arrived at the back fence, and asked my son where his mom was.

I had to yell up here. I was 40foot up in the tree, practicing ascending. Since I was just getting ready to go on rappel  I had not switched over and had to talk to her from the tree. I am surprised she still let her child come over!

I also entertained my sisters when they came over by practicing with my snowshoes in 90 degree weather in the backyard and then ascending. All in a day of the life of an adventure racer.

Scott and Joel are on the road.  They are in OK and will stop off for some paddling. Next stop for them will be CO where they will do some hiking. The trailer rocked that Scott is bringing and he had some nice amenities.

Markley heads out in the morning and will arrive the 19th.  Paul will also drive stopping off in CO and arrive the 19th.

I leave Thursday and will be there the 19th late late.

Todd will arrive the 21st just in time for our stay at the condo. The first two nights we are going to camp.

We are ready to go. Finally we are tapering. Yeah, I was tired of training!

Cannot wait to here from all of you on the boards. We love the comments and appreciate so much all the support. Be sure and check back after the race as we’ll have a full report!

SUPPORT CREW

Well we are almost there. I have to say I am tired of training and ready to race. I started training last year, just 2 months out as I was a late entry, but starting in August is a long training hall!  I am so thankful to have this long this time however.

We are all ready to race. We are excited to finally hook back up.

We have some exciting news on our support crew. Joel Alchin a military man, and racer will be supporting us, as well as Paul’s wife Autumn who has three boys.  Todd (the man with the kilt for you former PQ’s) is supporting us as well, coming in from Russia just for us…well maybe not, but he does fly in from Russia!

The support crew is super organized and it has already been a blessing to have them. We’ll get pics and bios up soon.

See ya soon!

NORTH CAROLINA TRAINING: PURA VIDA

Well we just returned from N. Carolina. What a great trip! I arrived early and got in an hour run before the group arrived. The Pisgah Forest was amazing and I could have just hung out there all night!

We got some good workouts, lots of knowledge and just plain fun. We kayaked in the rain. We had lots of laughs as we rescued a foot entrapped Joe- our instructor.

Our 3000 foot 3 hour and 52 minute hike at night was a highlight. We did this around 6 to get back in time to sleep for the trip home. We still stayed up until 2 AM…go figure.

Ascending and rappelling was a fun slow day. We really didn’t want to hike afterwards, but no one even mentioned not going, and it turned out great.

Check out a video of our team training.
